Specification Expression and Naming Rules of T-beams
2026-03-24 21:58:03

A unified standard for the expression of T-beam specifications has been formed in the industrial field, adopting a four-element marking method: Height (H) × Width (B) × Web Thickness (t1) × Flange Thickness (t2). This expression method can fully describe the cross-sectional characteristics of T-beams. For example, a T-beam of 220×220×10×14 refers to a product with a cross-sectional height of 220mm, a flange width of 220mm, a web thickness of 10mm, and a flange thickness of 14mm.
For small-sized equal-thickness T-beams, a simplified expression method is allowed by industry practice. For example, 60×36×8 refers to an equal-thickness profile with a web height of 60mm, a flange width of 36mm, and both web and flange thickness of 8mm. This simplified expression is common in small mechanical T-beams, but it should be noted that when the web and flange thicknesses are different, the complete four-element expression method must be adopted to avoid misunderstanding.
Material marking usually follows the specification parameters. Common materials include carbon steels such as Q235B and Q345B, as well as low-alloy steels of the Q355 series. For example, "T-beam 60×36×8 Q355B" clearly indicates the material characteristics. In import and export trade, international standard material identifiers such as SS400 and ASTM A36 may also be encountered, all of which need to be clearly marked in technical documents.
